St. Valentine.
In these days, attending the arrival of St. Valentine, did they return me to the mind the nostalgic words that Seneca wrote Lucilio to the beloved disciple:
”He is indeed an a little sensitive man who needs a family place to remember himself a friend. Nevertheless does it sometimes happen that these places you load of memoirs evokes the affection that was hidden in our mind; doesn't give new life to an already extinct affection, but do they wake up it from the sleep; as the sight of something, that was dear to the dead one, it renew in the survivors the pain… You are everything in front of my eyes, especially during the separation. I see again You while you are trying to brake the tears and you make efforts to prevent that the flood of your affections bursts out.
It seems to me to have left you a little while ago: and what, has not it happened a little while ago, if the past is recalled?”
It is able, also the banality of a festivity, consumed from the marketing, to lend to him to be this symbol, this place of the memory where the passions find again the yearning power that gives to them the perception of an absence.
The term absence results to be connected with the etimo-dynamic sense of the word desire: DE-SIDUS it is the Latin term that is composed of a "de" how deprived and sidus that it means star.
We can intend the desire as the native condition of the perception of a lack and the to originate him of one attended in front of a deprived sky of stars.
The desire is therefore the feeling of a loss or a yearning lack tied to a representation for us irreplaceable.
And that affection, intense and yearning, can have the tones of a passion able to promise the joy, if it is accompanied to the hope of a reasonable attended, or the pain, if the desperation succeeds in darkening, without any hope, irremediably, that sky.
All of this calls us to the mind the myth back, that "Aristofane" narrate in the Symposium of Platone , of the beings androgynous, mixtures of man and woman and divided by the gods, for punishment, in two halves, of which the one goes looking for the other, to fill it that a structural insufficiency is become.
The love is in short desire of something that is not had, but of which have need, and is it therefore essentially hot and present lack or, for the one who already possesses it, imaginary and future lack. So the love is a to take care of the beloved one, so that the craved one and done find again fusion, is not darkened by any blanket of clouds and does also remain shining star in the longest night and it do comfort that not tramonta in the most anxious obscurity.
