Fly the Friendly Skies - Naked
- German nudists will be delighted to know that they can now be nude at a higher altitude than ever before, as an airline launches special nude flights.
The flights of nakedness are a nostalgic throwback to the days of Communism in East Germany, when naturism was permitted and found widespread popularity. The company, OssiUrlaub.de, is specifically targeting former East Germans pining for their old, clothing-optional ways.
The company's founder, Enrico Hess, said: 'In the former East Germany, naturist holidays were a much-loved way of spending the best weeks of the year.'
But at around £372 (€499) for a trip between Erfurt in the south-east and Usedom in the Baltic Sea, the naked soaring will not be for everyone.
'It's expensive, I know,' managing director Enrico Hess told the Reuters news agency. 'It's because the plane's very small. There's no real reason why a flight in which one flies naked should be more expensive than any other.'
Hess explained how the nudity would work: 'All the passengers will fly naked, but they are only allowed to undress once they are in the plane. But then they will be able to enjoy the hour-long flight in the way God intended.'
The pilots and cabin crew, however, will remain clothed
